Just wanted to write a positive note about the Mayflower Marina in Plymouth. My wife and I grabbed six days away pre harvest and headed east from our base near Falmouth. One night in Newton Ferrers and then two in the marina. The owner, Charles was charming and so helpful and this permeated right down through his staff. They have fuel, petrol and diesel available 24/7 and not expensive. Anyhow, I can thoroughly recommend it for a stay.

Totally agree. Great grub and atmosphere in the restaurant/bistro there and easy to hop across to Royal William Yard or the Barbican.

I thought Mayflower was owned by various berth holders buying shares, not by one person. The staff have always been very helpful there.

Just spent 4 nights there on a rally and they were excellent, just managed to escape before SailGP kicked off
We caught the pre event racing on the Friday and it was fantastic. We were just outside the exclusion zone on the SE corner of Drake's Island and the boats were passing and turning about 100m from us. The screaming whistle from the foils when they were at speed was really cool, especially when the camera helicopter was chattering around above. Very atmospheric. The actual wind was 8-10kts from the south but the F50s were doing over 30kts.
That said, we did leave for Fowey on the Saturday morning on our way back home so missed the full race madness. Glad to have seen some of it though. It was the third in the world series, the first in Bermuda and the secong in Taranto.
