Did anyone else pick up the Mayday sent by mobo Harvey Mae on Saturday around midday, they were positioned somewhere off Port Eynon when Swansea coastguard had to co-ordinate a helicopter to lift someone off suffering with chest pains, after the stand down I didnt hear anything else. It must have been very scary, anyone have more info ?. We were on route from Penarth to Lundy in our Corvette "Klara B", with a stop off at Ilfracombe on the way back up. The weather conditions were perfect, will post some pictures later of our superb trip.

We saw you leaving Cardiff, just as we were locking in. Cant wait to see the pictures.

Hope the crew on Harvae Mae are all OK. If anyone finds out, let us all know.

His day didn't end there, because when approaching Portishead he took a yacht in tow, and brought it into the marina! An excellent piece of seamanship, because with an alongside tow he only had a couple of feet to spare getting through - which he did without touching anything /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

(I'll try and post some pics on Wednesday)

I heard about the helo pick-up, but didn't have a chance to chat to him.

i was travelling with harvey mae on sat aboard voyager, we stopped at lundy on fri night on the buoys, it was a bit bouncy to say the least, and quite a few(me included) were starting to feel the effects( must have been bad as we were considering a kip in the divers change room /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif), on the way back to swansea saturday morning it was all to much for the said crew member, and after much deliberation due to his age and other things it was time to make the call... crew member is now fine and was awaiting our arrival on monday at home marina. i'm sure kelvin will be along shortly.... /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Alls well that ends well. You made the right call IMHO.

I once had a guy aboared a 24 yacht who had a heart problem history ,he had been badly seasick for a few hours then sl;ipped into a semi concious state. We were passing Swansea Bay so put into Mumbles and anchored,he then recovered quite quickly .I still feel I made the wrong decision and should have had him lifted off even though it turned out OK in the end.

Glad to hear all was well and you were able to enjoy the rest of the weekend. Did you hang around the Gower or go further west ? The Harveymae looks great in the pics, we looked very closely at the 46 at SIBS and are starting to think its the kind of boat that would suit our use and needs, just a shame it wont suit the pocket! and its a fair wedge to try and hide from swmbo.

i think i had the same person on my boat when we were doing the tv race and cut short the race he was voilantly sick going through wranny kind of scary when they turn grey definately done the right thing mayday!!

I must say he was a very nice man bought a lot of the brown stuff at the royal crew were very happy /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif /forums/images/graemlins/ooo.gif

I know you are leg-pulling, but the skipper made every attempt to get back under sail after his engine seized. Unfortunately the wind died while he was in the shipping channel, although if he could have sailed to within reach of the lock he would have.

Can't do that in a mobo /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

Damo, we are ok, if one engine seized we have a spare. They fitted 2 in our boat /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Anyway, no one is complaining, the man bought the beer /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

I am sure we would all lend a hand if anyone was in trouble. The main thing is everyone if safe.

Well done Harvey Mae
