hello, i am very new to this world, but if i was to buy a normal boat, sized say 4 person sleeper one

and i was to park it at lincoln marina, which i believe has electic hook up, maybe gas ? lol.. u i believe you call them mooring fees ?, how much does it normal cost to keep a boat at a marina for a year with a electic hook up.... and is there much difference in cost for the peers, which have gates , or one which are unprotected ?

silly, do there even have hook ups ?

thank you

(ps. welcome to the forum!)

Different marinas have different rules, some ban liveaboards, some welcome them. The suggestion to ring the marina is not flippant, if you have a particular place in mind it will get you the answers straight away.
I've never come across mains gas at a marina, and I'm not sure I'd want to. Most boats use Calor or Camping Gaz. Or diesel. Electric can be included in the price or an extra, it depends. The price is not the subject of a simple answer.
Have you tried the "Liveaboard forum" on YBW? More knowledgable folk may lurk there.

Hi Mate £50.00 per foot per annum approx Leccy included!

No liveaboards allowed on the "Brayford Pool"

So noisy you cannot sleep anyway /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

Kings Marina in Newark have "liveaboards"

cheers Joe

One other point to be aware of is Insurance. As an example, when laid up, our policy does not allow staying onboard for longer than 2 nights!

Really?

May I ask who with?

What a ridiculous rule, any idea why?

Re: maybe a silly question - living on a boat?

£50.00 per ft per year

is that sq ft, or is it simply how long the boat is

also, other then that, is there anymore more costs, for the normal basic living.. such as do u pay for how much electic u use ?

also must u live on a liveboard, are can u live on any boat, providing its not a blow up dingy with a hole in?

is liveaboard a type of boat or just a name for anything u live in

Re: maybe a silly question - living on a boat?

Liveaboards mean anyone living full time on any boat. There are no spaces available for people to live on boats in Lincoln. The people who live on them are on the river towards the west of the town.

For costs you can compare to the cost of a Semi-detached house. It's much harder to live on a boat, plus more expensive than cheap housing.

As Joe said, I believe there are spaces at Kings Marina in Newark where you can live on a boat.

Could be MDL. Even applies if you own a marina house AND your own berth at the bottom of the garden! /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

( edit: sorry, refering to marina rules; you were refering to insurance .... never heard of that before either)
