Maxum 2700 SCR - Cat Rating

Hi,

Looking at upgrading and want to make sure the boat is up to the job. Recently we could not go away for the weekend on our boat (went with very kid friends in the end) as the sea was to rough but or friends could. So we want to make sure that when we change we have a boat capable of our needs.

Cheers

ok, but unless you are going out in some horrendous conditions (in which case I d chose some other boat anyway), whether B or C at 27 ft, you are likely to fall to bits way before the boat does.
So, I d suggest anything you are likely to be doing with this boat, you neednt overly concern yourself whether the stamp says B or C.
If you want sea keeping in grim whether, I'd look at the style and hull of the boat more than the RCD rating-assuming we re not talking serious offshore foul weather stuff.

Pleeeeeaaase dont make the mistake that all cat B boats are born equal and just becasue a Maxum 2700 has a B stamp you can happily motor off into a F8with a 3m sea.

A maxum has a Cat B, a Sealine S34 has a Cat B and a Fairline Squadron 66 has a Cat B. The maxum will be in pieces in seas that wont trouble the Squaddy.

This is a perfct example of just why these classifications are stupid, totally wrong and potentialydnagerous.

The catagory does not guarantee seaworthyness, just what the builder has paid to test....

To answer your original question i think you will find it is a cat C my 2800scr is a C,
I totally agree with the other posters dont base your boating on the rcd rating,
