Thinking about buying a 2001 bost which has just had engine overhauled. Petrol engine. £24450. For our first boat to gain experience and keep at Brighton marina. No work to be done.Any advice

That sounds like a good price, especially as the engine (and the leg?) has been overhauled.
For reference, here is a 2006 model for sale in Spain for 40,000 euros -

However before you jump in to buy it, it might be worthwhile making a list of desirable attributes (eg speed, maximum range required, number of berths, maximum price..........) that you are looking for in your boat - you could then perhaps post them on here, and see what other folk suggest?

Having looked at these a couple of years ago i would say that is a little in the high side for a petrol derrivative.

What are the other desirable factors that you are looking for in a boat, apart from a maximum price of GBP 25k?
(Remember that the odds are good of a much lower price being accepted, generally)
Does it have to be a fast planing boat, or would you also consider a semi displacement type of boat?
Where would you typically cruise to / from Brighton?

Planning to build experience on days out and build up to weekends. Want small galley and berths. No work to be done

Far too expensive for sure. Especially if it has t had a new MPi version engine. If it has...it’s someone trying to reclaim some cost back. That’s a 14/15k boat with a carb V8 at best.
