hi all,

am thinking about buying one of these..........cant find much else about them on other websites.......has anyone got good things or bad things to say about them or is there anything i should know before going ahead.......all feedback will help....cheers!

I have a maxum 2100SC new in 2004, and its been a cracking boat - no problems at all. The MPI engine is the best one - fuel injected that is, and we have had great fun - it can pull 2 skiers no problem, and is pretty solid.

Are you looking new or secondhand? Make sure it has had its warranty service if its nearly new, and if its been in the sea, check they flush it through with freshwater - you can usually tell by the condition of the leg.

There is a little loo in teh cuddy which helps SWMBO on longer trips, the seats on my version fold flat, and I am sure powe steering is standard.

We tended to park and launch ours, which worked out pretty well. This was our 3rd ski boat having progressed from Fletchers, and we are just swapping the Maxum out for a slightly bigger boat.

Other than that have a great time - its a nice little boat

Kind regards

Martyn

Maxum doesn't sell a huge number of boats. So not so many posts about them. In my part of the world the runabout market is all bowriders, no cuddys. The Maxum bowriders are more comfy than most of the competition at their price level. In most cases a Maxum would be on my short list. Here is a thread on another site with Maxum owners -

The comics did a shoot out about two years ago across about 5 or 6 of the 20' sports cuddy boats. Its a pretty comprehensive write up, with Regal, Crownline, Maxum, Bayliner , Monterey and perhaps some others. The Monterey came first for all round quality/drive etc, I think the Maxum was second or third, but it did well allround. When I purchased my boat the Maxum was about £1500 less than the monterey, so that swung it in the end.

www.midwayboats.co.uk always have a good selection of new and s/hand maxum boats
