The rubber stop that outdrive touches at max up .. has corroded and fallen off ! I had the old rubber - but lost it somewhere amongst the rest of crap in my store. Original idea was to grind back corrosion on both base and rubber metal faces .. then liquid metal back on .. but that's knackered by not finding the rubber stop !
Here's the base ground back that's still attached to outdrive :
Problem as I see it - is access to the nuts on the inside to remove that old part .... you would think that the nuts would be outside in recesses .. but no - don't make life easy for anyone.
So I have ground it back with idea to drill / tap the bolts seen there .... get square fender rubber from local shop here ... then bolts with washers through into the drilled / tapped bolts. I also plan to 'liquid metal' bond in place. If I recess the finxing bolts and washers - then should be OK for the outdrive to bump up to ...
Question is - have I the drills and taps to do the job ... if those are stainless bolts - then I'm shagged !! It will be bonding only.
