Hello, want to give the boat a more traditional look. Can anyone recommend a matt finish topside paint. Having trouble finding any info. Painted last time with jotun pioneer but the high gloss finish doesn't really suit the boat. Many thanks
 
You can flatten the paint by adding undercoat. Not difficult with white, but many other colours do not have a similar colour undercoat. for example International only do white or blue/grey undercoats which makes it difficult to get consistent colours when mixing.
 
Wanted to go black so was thinking about just using a oil based primer. Bayside said that it wouldn't be UV protected but not sure that would really matter. Somebody at the yard this morning has reccomended skip paint which has been used on the dredger which seems to be okay, I take it though its manufactured for metal rather than wood
