Mastic mess

I've got the new plastic ready to fit in my Canpa forehatch, but first I've got to clean all the old silicon rubber mastic from the frame. I've managed to get the worst of it off with a stiff pallet knife but is there any cleaning liquid or such that will get the last bits off? I want to get a good clean surface for the new goo to stick to.
