I had one of these LEDs fitted a couple of years ago, but can't get the anchor component to work.

The description on the riggers' invoice is

MAN00104
Classic M/H 3nm TRI/WHI

Does anyone know what manufacturer/model this is ?
And how does the wiring work - is it the sort where the polarity is reversed or something to go from anchor to tricolour ?

many thanks !

If it’s not faulty you should be able to tell from the wires from the light - are there two or three? If 2 then it will be polarity reversing, and if three there will be one common wire - usually negative and a positive wire for anchor and another for tricolour.

Many thanks.

The riggers took these photos - I can't really work out whats going on... ?

Many thanks.

The riggers took these photos -

Very pretty.

There are too many wires to be sure but

I think the green is the common negative,

the red the positive feed to the upper light ( the tricolour ???),

the brown, connected to black, the positive feed to the lower light ( allround white ???)

I think the white wire is not connected.

May be a Lalizas or MR Marine

It'll be interesting to read Paul Rainbow's comments

I was more thinking of the wires that you can see at the bottom of the mast rather than internal to the fitting. Are there two or three?

I concur on the wiring, and with somewhat more confidence :)

However I don't think we can know which of upper and lower is tri or anchor just from the pictures. It's obviously a fitting intended for incandescent bulbs and it could have had white LEDs inserted in both positions, so without seeing the lenses we can't tell the difference. Hopefully the OP knows which light is which.

It's a four-core cable but the white core is not being used. Common return with two separate supplies for the two lights.

Thanks very much for advice :) Afraid I have no more info than what I've given.

If 3 wires supplying unit, then unfortunately I don't have enough to connect to at the cabin top level - I expect when they fitted unit they discovered this and just left the anchor unconnected. I guess I need to change to a 2 wire light unit (or feed another wire through the headliner which will be very tricky).

I think you are probably right about it being a fitting originally intended for filament bulbs but Lazilas seem to supply it with LEDS !

I was expecting the upper light to be the white light until I realised that it was probably a Lazilas

If you read the previous, recent discussions about an anchor light at the mast head you should come to the conclusion that you do not need an anchor light at the mast head at all. It is a poor position as it is to far above eye level. The best position is hanging in the fore-triangle, or where it can best be seen, as required by the Colregs

A massive thank you to all giving advice.

As a result I've fixed the anchor light - the redundant white wire was incorrectly wired in at the base of the mast. My first successful electrics job !
