Mastervolt Chargemaster - does it stay "on"?

The 12v battery charger on my boat has popped - it lasted fourteen years so can't complain.

I am thinking of buying a Mastervolt Chargemaster to replace it, as they get good write-ups on this forum. Reading the instructions pdf, it says to switch on

"Hold POWER pressed for 3 seconds to switch the charger on or stand-by
Green illuminated = on
Orange illuminated = stand-by"

Does this mean that every time I plug in the shore-charger, I have to fiddle about holding down the button for three seconds to switch it on? Or does it simply switch on as soon as shore power is detected, as with my old charger?

I agree on being excellent chargers as well as they "remember" their last state before unplugging. One small issue they do have is the cooling fan can be a bit noisy depending on where you put the device. It's noise carried by contact and by air by the way. The good news is that at low consumption rates (< 3 Amps or so) the fan stops.
I bought one to replace a Victron that was less noisy but became much warmer (even hot) even at float level. It did so by design.
