Mast Sheaves Replacement

Another worn item on my old proctor mast are the Mast sheeves.

What is the best material for replacement? Is it ok to fabricate these in Aluminium or should I go for some other material?

I've just replaced mine - the old ones were aluminium with a bronze bush. Two were seized and the other two were worn so that they jammed! I got a local machine shop to make me new ones from a bar of Delrin.

If made from Alloy I think they should be anodised, also see this link, could be worth an enquiry.

Theyre best made from Acetal, which is a kind of plastic. I made a set for my mast 5 years ago, and they're still like new. Search on ebay for a guy selling them really cheap in all sizes.

Is bronze and aluminium a good combination?
I thought it caused electrolysis problems.
might it not be simpler to get new sheaves from a local Selden dealer?

I would say;
good combination? no, for exactly the reason you say, a plain bronze sheave with no ally would be nice but v. expensive,
electrolysis? would have thought so but its what the manufacturer put in at the time, but probably superseded by better availability of alternative materials these days,
Dealer parts? easiest but maybe not best value for money, or the most suitable materials for long life
