From the picture, below the sail track exit point there's a length of what looks like T track. The boom attachment is hidden, but does the gooseneck attach to this track by a car which can be adjusted vertically? If so the gap could be removed for sail stowing just by raising the boom - which might have other advantages in getting it further out of the way of peoples' heads.
