I'm thinking about installing a ubiquiti bullet before the mast goes back up (I am *determined* to launch this month!). I don't have an arch or a radar pole and no longer have a scanner mount on the mast (though that will re-appear when funds for new radar do). I do have a big flat steel bar about 75cm long which runs side to side under the mounting for the tricolour which currently has a VHF antenna at each end. I thought about maybe mounting something there but a fat wifi antenna might obscure the tricolour more than a VHF whip. Mounting on one side of the mast might obscure signals from the other side.

How do people generally mount these (other than on an arch/radar pole)? Should I just stick the thing on the pushpit?

Mines on the radar arch over the cockpit. Bullet and 9db omni.

On top of a spreader might be a compromise, way outboard.

I have uploaded new flash code once or twice and had to drop back to a factory reset more than once. It'll be a bitch if the bullet is at the masthead

Thanks nimbusgb: I stupidly hadn't considered that there might be a physical reset button. Spreaders might be an option: I'll take a look.

I mailed ubiquiti a couple of days ago to ask for advice on mast mounting. They've just got back to me to suggest I post a question on a forum. Not quite so keen to buy now.
