Mast lift, telehandler.

Yes a boatyard I used a few years back to do some work used a very similar piece of kit, worked fine.
We also have a local guy who runs small business shipping boats, and his artic' has a massive (11tonne capacity) 'Hi-ab' which he uses to lift boats and drop masts. He's very efficient knows what he is doing and doesn't cost the Earth.

Our boatyard in NW Scotland removes 80 plus masts each year with a similar machine, both deck and keel stepped on boats up to about 44ft. Oh and refits them every spring. Using a double bight there is no need to position below spreader bases, the forks are removed and a padded slot fitted at the end of the arm.

Excellent, grand responses. A great help. If anyone had any snaps of the operation, or set up, that would be the icing on the cake (as the footballers say).

E-mac, could I ask the name of your yard? Give me a PM if you prefer.

.

The boatyard at Pin Mill uses an identical machine, forks removed and a different fitting for handling masts, also has a dozer blade for pushing shingle about. He also used it very skilfully to lift out the old engine from my Halmatic and fit the new one.

Thanks Minchsailor, perfect. The forum is on top form today.

Thanks also to E-mac and the others. This is a project for next winter, provided we have the required reach, looks good.
