Other than the fact that they are an utter pain, not only ripping off all the masthead equipment but falling over when the halyard gets a bit slack, they are far less effective than a Hawk. It's quite difficult to judge the angle of a burgee when it's 10 or 12 metres up. For the purposes of advertising club membership, it's more effective to use a halyard to the spreaders.
