I need to run another cable (radar) inside my mast. On the inside of mast there is a spare small T-section moulding to hold the conduit. Do I have to get "special" conduit or can I use round electrical conduit and cut a small slot along its length??

If so is cutting the slot easy?

With what shall I cut it?

OK a saw but what type??

Thanks in advance!

make of mast

If I understand correctly you are installing a conduit in order to run a cable up the mast. First question will the extra conduit help your situation or no? Would you consider running a cable up the mast without a conduit?

you can avoid slaping by affixing cable straps in decent lenght on each meter of your cable in the mast- in addition you direct the loose end into a different direction thank the next ones. This will hold you cable centered in the mast.

Why not fit the radar to a pole at the stern, less hassle and easier to get to if any maintainance required. If you do go down the slot route, you can cut one with a cheap saw, mount the conduit in a workmate and cut 2 or 3 feet at a time

Make the cut as narrow as possible to maintain pressure on the 'T' section, keep the pipe as small as possible, this will reduce the chance of it spreading. If you have the mast down run a liquid glue down the inside of the pipe after installing.
