Mast climbing : possibility or not?

I have a simple footrest with loops over my feet and a cam cleat in the middle.
Plus a helper to tail a second halyard.
I normally come down by the helper easing the second halyard on a winch, while I slide a prussik down another halyard.
Unless you are solo offshore, there is really not much justification for solo mast climbing.

Someone mentioned wellies, they work great on a dry varnished wooden mast, if they work on our mast it needs more polishing!

How does 'Whooosh!' translate in A: Zulu B: Afrikaans ;)

As the saying goes. " Its not the fall that kills you its the sudden stop at the end.

Woosh sounds similar to the sound of removing the short fighting spear used by the zulu's called iklwa or ixwa.

To answer the afrikaans use a lot of english words with a slight different promsation to try to claim it not from the English Zulu's will pronounce it very similar.
I will ask some of my zulu friends net time I an in KZN

So Whoosh is not the issue its the bang that follows that causes the damage.

I suspect you've forgotted.... I spent long enough just up the road from you, near the Voortrecker Monument, to recognise that British humour falls completely flat in the Transvaal - or whatever it's called these days.

Perhaps we should try Xhosa....

Yes I either forgot or did not realise you lived in Pretoria. When was that ?

I never even tried to learn Afrikaans as I considered it not useful.

Living near the Voortrekker Monument (corrected you spelling for you) is very afrikaans where I live is very English.

I have tried to learn some mainly Zulu and Xhosa as it helps when dealing with the local's and you get a much better and friendly reaction.

There is now a lot of negativity in the Afrikaans population so alot did pack to Perth and some came back.

We are not going very far away from the post subject and some of the forum police may take issue with me in particular.
