On Sept 23 this year Tina has organised a Mast Climb aboard the Tall Ship Tenacious at West India Dock London.

We are trying to climb to the height of Everest!

First Platform is only 60ft, Tina has promised that if we meet our target that I am going to be doing it blindfolded!! And also I'm of to the button, 130ft!!

If you are around in Sept please feel free to come along and support us.

Everything that we raise is being split equally between Tina's charity,The Cardiomyopathy Association, and the 2-6 Heavers, which is the fund raising arm of the Jubilee Sailing Trust.

PM me if you would like to climb with us, the more the merrier!

There is going to be music and side stalls, and....and....and....lots of things.

Please be so kind to have a nose at our site,

All the best

Al & Tina.

I recommend a trial climb on the old mast at ex HMS Ganges!

Any forumites ever climb it, and to which level? What was the single post at the top called?

Thanks Mate!!

Have been very busy working on the boat and strangely writing a short story of my time at Ganges…..
The transports arranged for tomorrow for the trip to Reading ..then the launch….then a work up off the Caversham reach.

Best of luck Al ..I`ll be glad to put a few quid in the pot but as an old submariner I would prefer to stay on or below the waterline…

Heres a trip down memory lane for you old Trogs and perhaps a few tips for Al.

Don't forget. At the bottom end of the reach bear to Port of the lock. You will find the Upper Thames Motor Yacht Club. As a member of the Oxford Ditch you can moor there overnight outside the yacht club. If there's someone there just make yourself known and ask. Don't leave the club grounds though because you don't know the combination to get back in. They may charge you a fiver, I'm not sure if charges do or do not apply to Ditch members.

Uncle,

Thanks for the vid, and your donation!

As a sprog at HMS Rayleigh I had a go at joining the RN Display team, you know the one that used to do the Rope windows and the 'Dress Ship' at the Tournament? That is some height!!

Anyway, thanks for the support and looking forward to doing it.

All the best

Al.
