Every few years we carry out a quick reader survey to help us improve Motor Boat & Yachting and convince advertisers that we are reaching genuine boat enthusiasts.

This is really important to the future health of the magazine, the website and ultimately this forum.

If you could spare a few minutes to complete this online survey, I'd really appreciate it.

You don't have to leave any contact details if you don't want to but there is a case of wine up for grabs if you're happy to enter the prize draw!

Many thanks

Hugo. I got about 90% through the survey and was then presented with a question where none of the options apply to me. No option was provided to allow me to go back, or to progress to the next page, so I was forced to terminate the survey. Of course, I have no idea if my partially completed survey is stored by you or is of any use to you.

I am left with the impression that more thought is required in the framing of the questions and the options allowed for responses.

@MBY editor as much as I like reading about and looking at the bling boats in your mag, can’t you include more boats for the more common folk among us? And not just the elitist stuff?
Your wish is my command. Next issue has a two part feature on a chap who restored a 1980's Fairline Corniche he bought on eBay for £30,000 and turned into an amazingly bright, modern, comfortable and reliable family cruiser by doing all the refit work himself.
And there's a group test of 2-3hp petrol and electric outboard engines.
And a preview of several new of20-35ft boats being launched at the Boat Show.
Admittedly there's some big, expensive stuff in their too but we all need to dream!

Hi Hugo,
I gave up at the question "how do you perceive these brands?" - while I had heard of most of them, I know very little about many of them, not enough to form any meaningful opinion. There probably should have been a column headed "No Opinion", or "N/A"

Fair enough. I will see if we can add one now.

If anyone else gets stuck at this question you just need to tick a minimum of one box for one brand and you can then progress

I managed to go back a page and complete it. Questions about buying/have bought saikd and rigging for my motor boat seem a mistake…! The next page had n/a as a possible answer to this questions so it was sorted (sort of). I do some work on motor yachts of various sizes (Quite often Fairline Phantom 48’s and others) and indicated I might consider buying a mobo at some point. It then asked me what gear I’d bought for it which didn’t make much sense.

OK Hugo that's done. I was pleased to see that if I changed my name to something with 2000 characters it could be accommodated, but less pleased to find that after I turn 100 years old my opinion is no longer wanted... :)

Do we all get one of those lovely Icom radios?

I got through it no probs, although some of the website formatting wasn't great, despite a full screen browser, on some of the multi-selection questions.
At this rate I might enjoy some wine :)

One or two of the questions are shared with our friends on the sailing mags. Apparently, they cover their boats in bits of canvas, string, wooden poles and all manner of other tat!

Mmm. This thread got me wondering why a Yachtsman was doing the survey - then realised the Motor Boat Forum is hosted by
MOTOR BOAT & YACHTING
You learn something every day...
Having never read the magazine, sorry Hugo, I might now - if it has lots of stuff about raggies.:D

All done but there were some questions not at all relevant to motor boats
