Hi can anyone help with local knowledge our crew of 8 are flying into fort de France on jan 25 @21:00 and need a transfer to Le marin our charter company have quoted €250 return. This seems a bit steep to me ? Is it?
Thanks for help Bob

Yup that is a LOT.

The Martinique international airport is located in the central part of the island, thirty kilometers from Le Marin (around 40 minutes by car, when traffic is light) and 8 km from Fort-de-France (15 min. approximately).
Several major car rental companies are at the airport (see the Directory). If you rent a car at the airport and drop it off somewhere else, you'll be charged a return fee (around € 20).

There are usually plenty of taxis at the exit of the terminal. Taxis are fairly expensive in Martinique (€ 45 from the marina in Le Marin to the airport by day, € 71 by night). If you're not in a rush and travel lightly, a TC

- collective taxi, may drop you off at the by-road near the airport, about a 5 min. walk from the terminal (about € 3.60 from Le Marin).

The cheapest option is the Taxi Collective but you might have to wait a while.

I once took a private "taxi" -a private person with his car- as I do not remember the exact price it must not have been exagerated, possibly 30-40 euro (?).. but that's totally unofficial.

I just had a look through some French forum: at night, an official taxi is indicated at 60-80 euro. That would be for maximum 4 persons, so double it for 8 crew, double again if you are supposed to take the flight back at night as well...

"Taxi collectif" would be a lot cheaper, though as you arrive at night, the time to get off the plane, collect your luggage, get out of the airport I guess it might not be easy to find one of them?

Thank you for your input it looks like I may take up the charter company's offer at least on the inbound leg and see if I can do better for outbound when my feet are on the ground.
