I am removing some stripes and vynil graphics from the hull of my 20 year old Trapper TS240 and they are leaving 'shadows' on the hull (which is white GRP). I would like to know if these can be 'bleached' or removed in some way other than painting. Does anyone know if Oxalic acid will shift them?

Thanks.

Clean the hull with a sponge pad that you can buy in Homebase for clean paint from glass that is dirty with paint. I used soap for boats. Is tedious but effective. The same for clean marks of ropes.

If, as with my boat, the marks are from the undiscoloured area, under the stripes, the answer id no!!

If it's engrained dirt either side of the stripe you'll be best off using 15-24% hydrochloric acid, which will remove it in a few seconds. H2Cl does react with many boot-toppings and is mega-corrosive, so use HD plastic gloves, protective glasses etc.
