Re your lack of access to a phone, are you seriously telling me that it is impossible to ring the UK from Kenya, but perfectly possible to use email and internet ? Or is it just less convenient to use the phone ?

Supplier performace posts are useful on these forai, but given hard working small business reputations are easily damaged, it would be fairer for both parties if you had first called the number clearly stated on their web site to ascertain the situation before putting this kind of post onto the web.

At that point, if you did not get a satisfactory result, fine, tell the world.

For the record I have always found the Maldon staff helpful, and able to deal with alternative delivery instructions when I phoned them in.
 
I was not aware that you had established the rules on what communications systems I had to use, how much effort I had to make to use a particular system and the steps I had to go through before I was allowed to ask here for advice.


I was concerned about a lack of information, their website showed no information on order status, their overall performance was poor by standards of other mail order chandleries and terrible by standards of most other mail order firms I deal with.

I explained the situation accurately and honestly. I did not overstate the case.

No I did not phone the bl**dy Maldonn office! In the last year I have made 1 phone call to the UK and exchanged many Gigabytes of data by other means. They have a website, they have an email address. Where does it say I have to use phone ? When I really need to nag a UK co I invariably email someone in the UK and ask them to phone for me because less convenient does not begin to cover it.

If you read what I posted you will see that I was sympathetic but concerned and asking for experiences. Thanks to all those who did provide helpful information.
 
So we now have established

1. You do have access to a phone
2. UK Suppliers can reach you by phone,
3. You are able to call the UK by phone

But you would prefer to use the internet to cast doubt about a good company, rather than pick up the phone and sort your query out, in what would have taken less time than it has to read and respond to this thread.

I and other posters on this thread have clearly identified, that if you talk to the company in a friendly manner, you normally get the result you are looking for. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

So it's OK for you to criticize the way a company deals with you, but it's not OK for anyone to criticize the way you deal with companies.
