Ha anyone had any recent dealings with marinestore ?

I placed an order with them weeks ago and I am having trouble getting much sense out of them. The 'order status' on their site seems completely useless and time is running out for the order to be of any use. I have no evidence of any real problems, just a bit concerned and a bit unimpressed by their communications.

Thanks

Sorry to say this is not the first time I heard the same complaint about this company, they obviously have a problem in the communication dept.

I have never used them but others comments would not encourage me to place an order with them

I placed a largish order (£800) and it arrived after 2 days /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif.
But it was not up to specification (and dented) and I must send it back /forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif. Not their fault, they say, it is the supplier's; fair enough, lets see how long it takes to get a refund on my credit card.

But their communicatiobns by phone have been as good as any other.

I used them for the first time recently and felt I got very good service. Some of the items I ordered were put on back order with the supplier (i was told this straight away), but i gave them a quick ring to explain what was urgent and they were happy to split the order and it was delivered in three parts at no extra cost. I have the impression that some of their stock is split over 3 shops and this can introduce a delay of a day or two in dispatch, but it also means their stock is broad, unlike some suppliers who seem to carry little of what they advertise in stock.

Thanks all.

I should say I have asked them to deliver to an address in the UK not Kenya!

But that means that a 'quick phone call' is impossible, I will be in UK next week and need to collect the stuff, if it is not there then it could be many months before my next chance to get it. And they are not responding to emails.

I normally use mailspeed marine and they are usually excellent. But they went silent on me when I tried to discuss this order - it turns out they were all at SIBS , so I tried marinestore and I am now regretting it. I know that behind the shiny websites, these are all smallish operations with a few very hard pressed people, and I try to be sympathetic!

I have normally had good service from them, but on the odd occasion that there has been a problem I have managed to get it sorted via a lady there who's e-mail address I have PM'd to you.

As I said, I cannot phone them as I am without access to telephone to the UK and skype is presently unusable due to a very slow connection.

But I have just been told that the complete order was delivered to my UK office today. So it appears that their service was actually pretty good, but their communications were very poor.

...sounds like your communications are not so great ;-)

I find it strange that you have the ability to call into doubt the reputation of a good supplier over the internet, but have no access to a phone that can reach the UK.

well I am sorry you find it strange, come to Kenya and try to phone a UK company, you will find life is too short.

I use email all the time. I place orders via internet all the time. I have never had serious problems. I find UK marine companies rather poor at response and communications compared to other kinds of suppliers who are invariably much much faster and more responsive. For example I ordered tools, a traffolyte panel and radio parts from 4 different companies at exactly the same time as the marinestore order and all 4 responded spectacularly well.

I was completely honest and frank about my experiences with his company. In fact it now turns out that they were less good than it had appeared as they seem to have delivered something to an old address which I had asked them not to use in an email which they had acknowledged. I don't know exactly what has happened and won't until I am back next week. But overall it seems they were not bad but rather disorganised. That is what I experienced and that is what I reported. Would you prefer me to lie about it ?
