We inherited a Mariner wind direction and speed gauge with our Catfisher. The instrument itself is diseased with corroded connections etc. The wind direction works if I give it a nudge but no knots. I was wondering if 1). Anyone has replaced a working gauge and would like to sell it .
2). The direction and speed masthead fitting is fine and generating signals. Is there any hope that another make and model would work with these or do I need new masthead kit as well? If we do then I probably won't bother replacing it.
I'm long past the days when I would dream of going up the mast and as the b***** thing didn't pack up until the mast had been raised I'm not going through all that again. Threading new cable down the mast has to be one of the most difficult things known to man and the wireless versions still need someone to go aloft and the price is prohibitive. I'd rather do without the info.
