Took my 2020 Mariner 6hp in for its very first service last week. It was returned with damage to the carb clearly visible in the pic and someone had been having a go at the little brass screw located just inside. There was brass swarf covering the crankcase. Thoughts?

Someone drilled out the tamper proof plug?

Someone has drilled out the tamper proof plug and cocked it up?
I would take it straight back and ask for a new carb?

These carbs are fitted with brass plugs to stop anyone changing the air/fuel mixture - most of the time they need drilling out to alter the mixture.

I would definitely go back and ask for a new carb, and check other things that should have been done on the service. If anything happens and you have claim on the warranty, if a service wasn’t completed correctly they won’t cover it ??
