Hi there,

Just a quickie...does any one know if this model (Mariner 2002 6 ph 4 stroke) has over rev protection. If not, what will be the consequences of the prop comming out of the water...will the valves get damaged. On my little boat the prop leaves the water fairly regularly!!!

horrible noise when it does come out, and not good for the engine, and decidedly not good for forward progress. If there is absolutely no way of lowering the engine further, then consider fitting wings to the cavitation plate, as this will definetely help even at the slow speeds that you will be doing - but makes it more difficult to stow, and will put more strain on the engine mounting.
