Hi there I am getting big spark at ht lead and spark plug the engine is starting but idling is bit iffy.
Plus my starter motor wheel doesn't/isn't getting full contact with fly wheel cogs when meet aren't fully connecting so slipping so can't start with key
So I have to use pull start.

Sounds like you need a good service. HT tracking could be a mix of oil/damp on the HT lead which is easy to clean off. The starter problem could be your batter down on power.

I am nt sure whether you man you are getting tracking arcing from the plug leads as rafiki thinks you mean or if you are saying you can get good strong sparks from the HT leads if you test them.
If the former them cleaning or replacement of the leads is called for.

Otherwise I'd suggest checking or replacing the plugs. A compression test would be worthwhile.

If absolutely no problems other than at idle it might mean that a carb clean is called for.

Regarding the starter motor assuming that you have a good battery which is well charged it sounds as though the Bendix is not moving freely. Perhaps some dirt or rust is preventing its full movement. Also check for any burrs that may be causing it to stick or fail to engage with the ring gear properly. If mechanically no problems maybe the solenoid is not making good contact.

Thanks the starter motor is good just been reconditioned but it's not meeting the flywheel enough as in the cog on starter isn't in deep enough if you know what I mean.
Sorry I'm new to boating and engines the starter has a good few mm between that and the mount/housing it's seems as if it could be pulled in further allowing the cog on the motor to be pulled in further to the flywheel getting a better contact??

The cog is the same one I think doesn't look new but as I suspect and think the motor looks as if it could be out too far so cog isn't getting a good bite at it. I originally got it reconditioned because the top ofloor motor was wobbly and I think it was the BB's it's now solid no movement and I thought it was this that the engine wouldn't start with key. But tried and still not starting. Pull starting tho

Can you take some pics please? I am struggling to understand how the meshing between the bendix and the ring gear are now misaligned following a recon.
