I have just bought a Mariner 30HP and it needs a new propeller and I don't know what ones will fit, I have posted a picture, now do I have to buy the exact same prop or can I put a different one on, any advice please

There will almost certainly be a range of props of different pitch. Probably varying from 8" to 14" or something like that

You dant say what size and type of boat you want the engine for.
Your 13" X 26" prop will be suitable for a high speed planing type of boat. If you have a slow displacement type of boat you will need a prop with a much smaller pitch.

Your Dealer is probably the best person to advise

As you will know you have advised me many times in the past and I thank you so much for that advice, I bought this engine for a future boat as the one I am restoring at the moment is a 14 foot CJR and when this done I am hoping to sell it and get a bigger boat, as you may remember you have advised me about my Johnson 25HP which I now have running quite sweet but the fella I bought this Mariner off had it on a speed boat but I will want it on a slower fishing boat. Thanks very much Jay Jay

Until you know how you want to use the motor, it isn't possible to select a propeller.

As mentioned, there will be a wide selection available for it's hub and shaft (wise because Mariner was a joint venture between Mercury and Yamaha)

The motor model and year will be needed to find prop options.

The attached picture shows 13x26 which (13" diameter and 26" pitch) looks incorrect.

Thank you for replying, I wondered myself about the 13x26 as I could not find anything that resembled that online hence my posting, I suppose the best thing to do is wait and see what boat I get, thanks once again

On reflection that is probably not the propeller spec at all ! That would be stamped on the prop not the gearcase The gear ratio is 2.00:1.

There are prop calculators online that will give a starting point for a prop depending on how accurately you know the input values.

Funny enough I was looking for a prop for my Mariner 20 ...... turns out the props for the 20 are also quoted for the 30 !! The tables I found - I expected to see only a few of them cross the 20 - 30 range ... but they all did.

I know my Soviet Mobo could use a higher pitch as the Evinrude 18 Fasttwin has higher pitch than my Mariner 20's and it gave her an extra couple of knots ... unfortunately the prop doesn't fit !

According to catalogs the 30 has a 13 spline shaft, the 20 is 10 spline.
Unless the Evinrude and the Mariner have the same gear ratio, the comparison is meaningless.

If you want to optimize a prop on a planing boat the starting point is knowing the motor's recommended rpm range at WOT and use a tachometer to read the current result on the given boat with normal load. From there you can calculate the change in prop pitch needed to bring rpm within range.

It’s 2:1 red

13:26 could be teeth in red gear
most likely in fact reason for plate would be to advise red gear ratio as that is an identification
