Mariner 2HP advice required please

Recently acquired the above.Runs, but no tell tale, revs fail to drop when throttle closed down.I'm unsure as to its age, it has a stick throttle, and is a 6a1 or 2M.It states made in Japan.

I have removed prop, and tried to take the cover off the gearbox, but it will only move about 1 MM.

Can anyone please give me some pointers as to likely causes.Or can anyone offer advice as to a step by step ''strip down''.

Information on where to get replacement parts from would also be useful.

suspect that the carb needle may be bent and not closing when you shut the throttle. You need to get the plastic cover off and then remove the power head from the shaft, and the cylinder head, then you can get to the water passages. You obviously also need to check the impellor. Suspect that the gearbox cover is held by a build up of crud on the prop shaft.
