I have a look now and then to see if there's any boats about in my stomping ground and noticed some "Aids to Navigation" marks last week that aren't right, I assumed they were a glitch but they're still there... Belguim flagged!

Any ideas? I've noticed others before, Bembridge being one them them (about 12) which would be a bit of a pain if it sets the AIS alarm off as you're entering?

Obviously not a big issue but on a cold slow day I thought I would ask the question.

Those Belgium AtoNs appearing in Newport (South Wales), if you click on them are being reported to marinetraffic.com by
AIS BE Coast - Station #1593

That appears to be a coast radio station, off the Belgian coast with 50m antenna height.

Either that station is receiving from half a dozen transmitters with erroneous ais equipment in the sea off Belgium.. or the coast station software is decoding some messages badly before uploading the data to the internet.

With people installing non certified/compliant (whatever the term is) equipment there's always that possibility of more erroneous transmissions..

My boat was appearing in Palma, Mallorca for a while a few years back (instead of berthed in Southsea) when a boat in Palma was sending occasional bad transmissions that were being read by a radio amateur in Palma that had a feed into marinetraffic.com for uploading received positions.
