Marine Toilet unknown wall mounted doohickey

Any of you guys know what the thing on the wall is? Is it a cistern?

It's for putting sanitizer crystals in to stop the toilet smelling. I had one on my boat and purchased the crystals for it. Toilet continued to smell and the crystals blocked the pump and knackered the motor necessitating replacement for £500.

My advice, do the job properly - replace the pipes with high quality butyl ones. Chuck the sanitizer in the bin and consider a way of flushing the toilet with fresh water.
