Have been quoted by a UK marine surveyor £370 plus £170 for flights/expenses
to survey 36ft boat in Menorca. Does that sound ok ?

Oi !

I resemble that remark... I've never wibbled , and have Mrs L who does wobbling for me.

I withdraw previous post. Know a brill surveyor who will do job for free. Not telling you who !!

P.S. Who going to fit 'nets' to the new boat?

P.P.S. I got to that stage faster , that's NUFFINK in the Med ( although you have title sorted...)

Re: Cough Up..

Whats an url ? Duke of Url. Look hear you the chosen vessel whilst perhaps not being my first choice, meets the criteria. To which, 11.3m x 3.71m (berth 12m x 4m) Two engines, genny, AC, GPS, autopilot, chartplotter, snap davits, bimini cover, two heads, (trade off small cabins) and most important of all RYA/MCA certification and Spanish charter permits. Oh and just about to come out for antifoul and new anodes. Waddayer reckon

Sounds extremely reasonable. I've just paid more than that for a surveyor in Mallorca and he was only an hour from the boat

I am currently doing a diploma in marine surveying and in my (professionally) inexperienced opinion I would question why this surveyor is much cheaper than the others have suggested.

Is your man relevently qualified and expereinced on this particular craft?
What level (how indepth) of survey are you getting?
Is an engine survey included?
What format will the report take?
etc....

Does sound cheap though. If everything is OK I'd bite his arm off and fly him first class and give him a decent bung.

Good luck!

Re: colin

Will be checking him out Colin, however the one I got from YBDSA (85 more and local) looks promising, have spoken to him and he has an impressive web site www.jaysonsibley.com Yes I will be having an engine check and sea trial.
Check his site out and tell me what you think CGN
