When we bought Moondance last year, David Hopkins was recommended to us. I was told that he is like a ferret when you are buying, but you don't want him anywhere nearby if you are selling.

For totally different reasons, we didn't need our own survey, so I don't have first hand experience but he seems to be well regarded.

Would happily recommend Brian Goodfellow, nice honest chap (02380 560849), recently did a survey for me and his wealth of experience and professional ability really showed through.

Would agree, David is also very good. At the risk of going over well trodden thread topics again, I would suggest that all on the YBDSA are not nearly as good though.

Nothing wrong with the idea of the YBDSA, but the RINA qualification, either member or associate is the one to look for as it is evidence of a qualification and not just an association, so after the personal recommendation, which is always of value, ask for the qualifications, because most insurers will expect it and will almost certainly query if none are apparent on the survey documentation.
