It would seem that the marine police are going to replace all three of those fine Mitchell 31 patrol boats with an enormous catamaran and a couple of high speed ribs. They may even merge with Dorset and Sussex who are suffering from cutbacks. You often see the existing patrol craft patrolling in quite tight areas up and down moorings, I hope that they can keep it up with a larger vessel.

There a great looking boat, I always admire them when they come up the Hamble past us, I wonder then if the big Cat will venture up there, or the upper Itchen and Test,

No doubt they will be replaced by the faster and more economic ribs, personally unless there dressed up they wont look a deal different to any other worklike rib, where as the Mitchell always looks the part.

I wonder if the Met Police are having to cut back too as they have some very fine boats there on the Thames, hopefully the Mitchells will be moved to another Force within the Uk that needs them, if not I wonder if they could be tendered for?

funny observation

I was playing pontoon bashing down the bottom of the river, in some strong wind and tide, [was a YM prep] just opposite the the police berth , when one of their boats goes onto their berth , then off again then on again, he did it about 5 times, all very well done and then waved as my guys who had been watching him. That's what we are trying to do says I. :D
