just been down to Gosport shopping at the Factory outlet place at Gunwharf Quays and guess what...

They have a Bose Factory outlet shop which sells marine speakers which are salt water proof at a discount.

Seriously thought of buying a pair but with the boss shopping as well it seemed a bad idea

When I trialled them they sounded good. Are they the sealed boxes, with brackets, or are they 'ordinary' speakers?

The problem with the boxes that I had was mounting them where bits of string wouldnt rip them off (not a problem for you I guess).

I bought some for my Broom 38 they are excellent IMHO. But beware they are sealed units and have rather large backs to them so you need to make sure you have space to fit them - otherwise I would recommend these highly

I cannot comment on the same Bose model speaker, but we are doing a couple of big boats for a client at the moment and for the outside spaces they had used Bose commercial business music system indoor/outdoor speakers (Freespace 32SE) which are quite small surface mount boxes (about 6x9 inches from memory) on two of their previous vessels. Anyway, they are so happy with their performance in the marine environment that we have specified them again.

Guts of it is - I would think you are onto a good thing there.
