It`s got to the stage now where I need some legal advice on a dispute with a marine engine manufacturer. Can anyone recommend a firm with a leaning towards marine legal matters ? I just don`t think my own market town solicitor would be appropriate.

Not sure you necessarily need a "marine" lawyer if the dispute is of the "consumer" type - that is about the supply of goods. without pre-judging your specific problem, most cases involve either defects, fitness for purpose or supply of services and the problem for the claimant is gathering evidence to support his claim rather than the law under which to make the claim. In smaller claims that fall within the remit of the small claims track it is useful to follow the process on www.moneyclaim.gov.uk and independent advice from organisations such as the Consumer association (Which). You do not need a lawyer to do this, but as suggested useful to get advice from the RYA to get you going. Often the case ends up at setting one expert's advice against another's, so spend the money on your expert rather than a lawyer. Going through the process of trying to resolve the issue by other means such as arbitration puts you in a favorable position if it does come to a court action and you may well find the other party will stall up to the point where you present your evidence to the court and often settle at that point rather than contest.

You need to persistent and sure of your ground to through this process.
