Marine Electrical Engineer near Old Windsor?

I was testing the stop solenoid on one engine, 5 starts and stops, then on the sixth attempt nothing no click from the starter and the bilge blower won't run either, the other engine now is also dead and I hadn't even touched it. There's a short somewhere but I can't find it!

A short? Sounds like a lead hanging off. Start from the battery and follow the leads, making sure you have 12+V to start with, and all terminals are tight and clean.

Can't see anything obviously hanging off but I'll be resecuring all the leads tomorrow. I think it's a short as when I turn the key the voltmeter drops from 25V down to about 17V. Looks like a day with a multimeter and tracing wires!

Thanks NR, I double checked the battery connections as you got me thinking and found a terminal that was half eaten away due to arcing! Now fixed but a lucky escape!

Cheers
