Marine Cove Online shopping - are they real?

I was looking for a new bilge pump (Johnson4000) and found good prices on the Marine Cove website. Calling the number gave an answerphone message saying that a text was being sent to the relevant party.

Has anyone else ordered from here before..

Another point - Why don't any chandleries around the Solent stock pumps this big.. one even asked what I was doing to warrant a pump that size?
 
The address is residential - certainly not retail premises stocking a wide range of goods, nor a warehouse. And the phone number is mobile.

It may be a legitimate business, ordering direct from manufacturers or distributors against customer orders, or it may be a dropship portal, or it may be a scam.

The address and number in the Whois profile is different to the address and number on the site. That is not a problem, but the site is very new, registered in September last year and only just started trading.

I like their mission statement, though.

However, I think they will be changing this paragraph one day, as it can be read the wrong way.

"most of the products listed have been used or repaired by us and we know what the product is like in the field."

Thank you.. The number on the whois page was answered and the person who answered wasn't sure why his business partner had not answered on the phone number detailed on the sales website.

He suggested I try the sales number on the website and they will allow me to collect if I do make a purchase.

Would still be interested to hear if anyone else has bought anything from here yet.
 
Parts ordered..

Just to update you that I have ordered a Johnson 4000 pump from them today.

I did call the number on the website to see if it was in stock and they said they would call back. I had a callback within a couple of minutes to say it was. I will update when it has arrived.
 
Hi Guys n Girls,
As some of you have discovered we are a newly formed company and as such there is always a few teething problems, which nowadays consists of internet paranoia which is rightly deserved, we are however real and ready and willing to serve, the office advertised is not residential but is "parked" next to a tattoo parlour this is purely used as admin not as an outlet, we are primarily internet based but can arrange for collection,The reason for this is I have been trading on ebay for few years and seen that having a physical shop is an expense that we can do without, it also means we dont have to pay the business rates that a shop would incur, if we did have all the "bells and whistles" we would not be able to offer the merchandise at the prices we currently do

The office is purely used as such and is not where stock is held, we currently hold stock at a secure location which is not advertised purely as I am paranoid of the real world thieves :eek: we will be moving in the future as the business grows so shall we but as a start up we have to make do with what we have, we are not millionaires we are just a small business that thinks the marine attitude has to change with regards to (over)pricing, we all have to start somewhere :)

The number on the whois is the web techs number and is not much use for enquiries.

Major, having re read the mission statement I think you are correct and we shall have to edit that a little but hopefully people will know what we mean when we say we have used the equipment and hopefully will realise its not the equipment we are selling to them thats been used :D but point taken noted and thankyou for the heads up :)

Twister we are not a scam, we have spent a fair sum on getting the site secure and have equifax secure ssl site for peace of mind.

By all means if anyone has any suggestions for the site or products they would like to see please let us know and we will try our best to accommodate.
