I’ve got a MAS heating/air con system, it would seem one system for cabins the other for saloon.

I don’t seem to be getting as much heat or cooling as I should.

The saloon heating starts off well, after 5-10mins the heat seems to drop off and just warm’ish air blows, similar with the AC.

The cabins are just kind of warmish from the start but not hot, similar with the ac, just cool but not cold.

Water flow is good, no errors on the controllers, any idea’s suggestions, could it just be a case of re-gassing?

TIA Paul

Hi Mark

I’ve honestly no idea, any simple way to tell? I actually thought the system had a leak and haven’t been using it, but I realised today the previous owner had plumbed the shower pump wrong, it was pumping into to MAS catchment box not out of the boat! (We don’t use the shower). So I fired it all up today to test and here I am!

Mark, my previous reply wasn’t too clear, yes a central compressor, two in fact. It is the water pressure I am not sure about!

Still confused .
MAS do a lot of self contained units which fit under seats / bunks etc .Normally for small boats or economical fit as it works out cheaper to instal .They are noisy l

A “ central “Marc refers to is a single chiller unit usually located remotely say in the engine room .This chills water which is then pumped to multiple air handlers in the boat . These tend to be on larger more expensive boats .They are quieter as the main compressor is remote in the ER .

What boat are we talking about ?

It’s perfectly normal to plumb the condensation run off of a air handler or self contained unit into a shower sump .
The water has to be got rid of somehow .Another through the hull fitting is another future avoidable problem .

Have you got any photos of the units? Specifically the plate, like the one in the attached photo.Air Conditioner 20200112 - plate.jpg
Have you been round your hull when the boat is on the hard and identified all the outlets/skin fittings/thru-hulls so you know where the a/c seacock/s and outlet/s are - how many are there, one or two?
