Is it possible to 'overdose' with Marine 16 if so what are the effects? I have some diesel bug that I would like to kill off quickly.

No adverse effects from an overdose, but equally probably no beneficial effects either. The dosing instructions should be followed, but if you want to pour a bit more in it won't be catastrophic.

Depends which marine 16 you have. They do a maintenance additive for prevention and special additive purely for bug killing.

You could double the dose rate, but what will it achieve apart from spending more money. Marine16 have done all the tests in the world on their product to give you the best advice. Add 10% more if you want to feel good about it; it might be easier to set fire to a £5note.

Their products include some very volatile hydrocarbons, and using a lot will in theory "thin" the diesel, which conceivably could not be good for the injectors, diaphragms, washers, etc.

A bloke was at school with got himself a doctorate degree in chemistry and worked all his days at the laboratory of the government chemist. We were have a discussion one night when he was home for a visit on the very subject of manufacturers dilution rates. Keith pointed out that chemists working for chemical manufacturers develop chemicals to be used at the published rates of dilution, which give optimum performance. Why would they not? If the optimum performance occurred at a different dilution rate why not publish that instead?
