Marinas near Split, Croatia

I'm looking for recommendations for good marinas near Split able to accommodate 50' monohull. I have no experience of this area, so I'm hoping some of the forum users may have been there and done that!

"Good" in the sense of reasonable prices, good security, and helpful staff.

So, any ideas?
 
50 ft+ yachts used to be able to moor stern to in the town of Trogir, some 12 miles or so north of Split. That was many years ago during the Balkans conflict so things might have changed by now. Trogir is a beautiful ancient town with lots of restaurants and well worth a visit. It's only a mile or so from Split airport, as I recall. I don't know the depths within the port. Try Google.

No permanent mooring permitted against the quay now. The marina in Trogir is one of the most expensive and least attractive in the area and very busy with charter yachts on Friday and Saturday. It was built when yachts tended to be a bit smaller so a 50 footer might be tight.

But Trogir it is definitely worth a visit.

Richards been around the area a bit longer than me. Sibenik has more facilities including fuel than others but is too long a taxi ride from the airport for me. Kastela is very near the airport and lovely islands but has a bit of a reputation as less maintained.

I'm keen on moving to Trogir Marina as it overlooks the stunning town and has both a launderette and a fuel pontoon both of which are very rare on the coast. My wife thinks the same way as Richard so we won't be moving.

Marina marina is a nice marina in a nice little town but foreign yachts were asked to move a year or two ago. Frapa comes next and is a little plasticy for me but we often visit the restaurants and walk in the woods so I'd have been as happy there as Kremik which has been our base for 2 years now.

Kremik is next up the coast and looks like a big scooped out quarry. Major Sunsail base and near the lovely holiday town of Primosten (frequent shuttle bus and supermarkets available). No fuel or launderette which took some getting used to but good boatyard and having an ex-Sunsail boat in a marina full of Sunsail techies has been really useful. it's a safe secure base where crime seems minimal and nobody seems to think of gated pontoons and where boats are carefully locked up with keys always safely hidden in the gas locker. It's one downside is shared by many local marinas which is that charter boats are driven the Mediterranean way with lots of shouting, throttle, bow thruster, tangled ropes and fenders kept carefully in lockers.

We were hit 4 times last year, once in our normal berth, once at another Marina and twice whilst at anchor as other boats anchored too close and drifted down whilst fiddling about on the foredeck. I have swallowed my natural repugnance for the practice and now put out all fenders even when anchored alone in a bay.

Yes have that vid and the T shirt - we were there. One of the more interesting experiences. If you have a couple of hours we could give you a blow by blow account of what happened. btw no-one was taking pics while it was going on. These vids were after the main event!!
 
Croatia is expensive.

You have Kastella Marina not far away from Split Airport, which is closer to the beautiful town of Trogir. Others have mentioned Trogir.

Rogasnicias (Rogersknickers) is truly expensive

Kremik Marina might offer your best chance, a Sailing Holidays base and not too far from Split Airport

Hmm...people do seem to fall into two camps on that one. They are a million miles away from smiley American service but I find them tolerantly amused by tourist failings and with a very dry sense of humour once you get to know them.

On a forum last year somebody described them as "Yorkshiremen with tans" which works for me.
