Marina prices/pilot website

There's so much good info about, but as Jim points out it's sometimes very hard to find it. I just thought it would be nice to have it all in one place, in an interactive format.

Google maps is such an easy way to record map stuff , but as you say there's no one place to access it. I did a few maps on last cruise..

Yes indeed, I've used it as a sort of 'online log' for cruises as well...

It would be fantastic if many people augmented this kind of map with up to date info on marinas and anchorages etc. Pretty easy to do as well, as Google let you customise map setups and imbed them in websites.

Have you thought about adding some interactive content to your site Jim?
You've registered on the site, so you can see, and post comments, on any of the pages to add information, or suggest a link to your blog, your notes, or your gmaps for that region. I hope that's interactive enough!

The site is designed, in fact, to provide sufficient info to be useful, and then to allow registered members (it's free) to add information or correct errors by adding "comments" to the pages. I then edit the comments into the text - or leave them as comments.

For instance, see the link on http://jimbsail.info/mediterranean/greece/athens at the bottom of the page - "GoCati's Map". A brilliant piece of gmap work, provided by Cati, edited into text.

Also, see the comments on http://jimbsail.info/tidal-europe/biscay/n-spain which correct harbour info and add anchorage info.

But - to keep spammers out you can only post (and see) this detail if you're registered.

Groan, but I still get spammers registering and posting adverts! So I'm pretty ruthless about removing "users" who don't give believable names and have numerical hotmail addresses! And by editing info into the main texts myself, I can keep those short and avoid repetition. Well, that's the idea.
