Just had my marina newsletter and next year's mooring charge is being frozen at this year's prices, also they are cediting the VAT reduction from today to April 1st .

You are lucky, the VAT is only supposed to be on Invoices ISSUED after 1st Dec, so assuming you already paid it months ago, they do not have to give you this.

Maybe they are a little nervous....GOOD - lets hope it spreads down the rest of the river. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

If it was Harleyford, dont waste your time, my response just now was what I got from them.....

Can't believe you even asked.........You know what they're like. Have they given any indication of next years fees yet?

Good news indeed, perhaps the EA could consider a similar policy for their licence fee for 2009

That is an extremely interesting question. Is VAT due on a licence fee? Its not a good or a service (he he!) but grants access to one I assume.

Wow this is great news. The big problem of course is what to do with my £37.89 rebate. So much choice, i think i'll go to Marks and buy that new christmas jumper, with the VAT cut its down a further 15 pence... In fact lets all buy a jumper and together we will beat this economic downturn..... what a clever man that chancellor is............................................................NOT!

No, it's not a license it's a registration and by the nature of that animal (i.e. no goods or services), there's no VAT.

The downside of course is that you're not really entitled to much either.....

Lucky you.

Looks like MDL are joining in too, we now get the following:

5% discount off annual berthing fee if paid by January 15 2009

30 nights visitor berthing at other MDL sites (up from 12 I think this year?) with unlimited free short stays. In addition to unlimited visitor nights on the MDL Thames
Marinas.

50 hours free WiFi use

Fuel will be sold at cost price

50% off boat yard services

I think the last two should make a nice difference to our running costs...

Darren.

Re: More Marina Good News

Blimey does Terry know they are offering that?

That may make liftout charges almost as low as everyone elses!!! /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

Re: More Marina Good News

Terry is not MDL, so doesn't include him (might be why so many go down to Penton Hook though!).

Re: More Marina Good News

as I am due to get the boat lifted out for antifouling and a service (an then straight back in the water), am I better off taking the boat down to penton hook marina then? Will I get 50% of the lift out / antifoul / service price there and not at bray

Re: More Marina Good News

Think you are best off asking that nice Mr Gates that question.

Not sure what Terry's rates are at present but yes, discount if taken to PH, not if lifted at Bray.

They also have (had?) a six week special on if you are keeping the boat ashore for 6 weeks or less, that was a percentage off the normal lift out, or at least it was when I booked it a couple of weeks back, again only at Penton Hook.

Darren.

Can't complain at that Darren.

Re: More Marina Good News

It certainly looks like they are "bricking it" for next year.....

(I thought they already had a early settlement discount?)

Re: More Marina Good News

Got same info from Cobbs Quay. Save me about £200, plus other benefits.

THREE CHEERS FOR MDL.
