hi guys
just thought I would post about the marina we've moored Starfire for winter as I couldn't find any info online nor pilot book as it's new, might be helpful for some. starfire was birthed in Cagliari before but didn't fancy a late season crossing back and struggled a bit to find a good winter stop near to Naples or Rome. We contacted most known marinas like fumia etc but got the best quote from marina d'arechi in Salerno. the marina is new and approx 70% finished with most berths to be completed this summer and shops to follow as well. as it stands several hundred berths are available in quite a nice setting for a new marina (a lot nicer design than the council estate like marinas like Porto di Roma).

facilities excellent including bikes to cycle around marina. no chandlery yet but basic coffee place is available. groceries and chandlery approx 10 min cycle.

what makes it stand out is the excellent service we've received. fluent English very prompt and professional responses. we organised some works via email - which is unusual compared to my previous experience in Cagliari. even received pictures of haul out (we leave her on land for winter) and when she was in the water the staff do a daily lines check.

they are clearly positioned as a top end marina allegedly built costs are 120eur million, buy we found costs very reasonable considering location 1.5 hours from airport and close to Salerno: 3000 for 5 months, haul out, launch, and anti fouling, 35 ft. compared to other quotes we basically got the anti fouling free included.

you are allowed to do some work yourself ( not sure if they would object to big projects) but not allowed to sleep on boat on hard.
downside is some wash in heavy weather and current lack of social life but sure that will come.
and to finish it off we loved Salerno, it doesn't get much attention but we found it very nice.
I think for those in the region looking for a winter stop near naples / rome, check it out.

they are a mile south to the commercial harbour, waypoint at Marina entrance is: 40° 38,740' N - 14° 48,645' E. It's just in front of Salerno "Arechi" football stadium. forgot to say they just opened the metro stop so you can metro into town conveniently. rod heikel mentions it in the pilot but at time of print it wasn't completed.

Thanks for that - have now located it on Google. Last time I used the tuna-boat berths in Cediera.
