Marina d'Arechi at the London Boat Show

I surprisingly paid not much more to stay in Mergillana in the heart of Naples
Sorry if I sound pedantic but It's actually Mergellina, just in case anyone would wish to google for that.
Did you try the "Ciro" restaurant, just on the other side of the road that runs around the marina?
Great for proper traditional pizza and "pezzogna all'acqua pazza", among other specialities! :encouragement:

Thanks MAFweiss, though I was particularly interested in the cost of a 76 year lease rather than the annual rental charge. Maybe you could pm me?

Let me check that out for you. Just confirm the size you want. Remember - with a lease length of more than your lifetime - to factor in the prospect that you might buy a bigger boat, just as we have just done!

Sorry for the misspelling, was posted in haste! Yes have eaten couple of times there, they always try hustling the extra large Buffalo mozzarella for the antipasto

I was just looking for a guide, so was asking about the size of berth you had bought, but probably didn't make that clear. Any size around the 20m mark will be useful, thanks.

Nick, I was quoted €320,000 incl VAT (less a little wiggle room :o) for my 21m by 6m berth which was originally an 80year lease that expires in February 2091 (that we should live so long!!). I know they also do 30 year leases, which will obviously be cheaper.

By the way, these leases are I think different from those commonly found elsewhere in France and Spain. The purchaser actually ''owns'' the plot of water under his own name, and it is registered as such in the Italian equivalent of a Land (sic) Registry. This means if the company that runs/owns the marina were to go belly up, and it was then to be taken over by a new operator, you would still be entitled to keep your berth.

I have also bought on the same length lease a 15m by 5m lock-up garage/storage unit for €60,000 where we will keep large wine fridges for some of my substantial wine collection, a fridge/freezer, boat stuff, bicycles/scooters, etc., and the tender in winter. So as you can see, I have made a substantial investment in our future life here!!

The current list price of my 21m berth is €12,500 inc VAT, and my service charge is €4,600 inc VAT.
Just to put that into perspective, it will cost me about €8000 pa all in for an annual 20m berth in Carloforte but it does take a lot longer than 50mins to reach the marina from the nearest international airport, Cagliari

You won't regret buying the lockup.
We have similar facilities in Sant Carles.
They are so useful that the lockups are more valuable than the berths!!
Have you thought of electric bikes? - we keep 4 of them in our lockup.

Blimey, and here I was, thinking to be a wine lover.
With all due respect for your new beautiful boat, I'd rather visit your wine cellar, if given a choice...!

Thanks for the info

Haahaa… well wine collecting was my main passion before I discovered boats. Since the early 90s, I amassed a collection of over 16,000 bottles, predominately of the finest Burgundies (75% of which are in long term professionally storage). I now view my rarest and most valuable bottles i.e. those worth say between £500- £800 a bottle or £10k a case, and in some cases a great deal more i.e. my DRCs, as ''boat fuel''. I am selling those off as I would rather have them pay for memorable day's cruising on the Med, than to literally piss the money away drinking them. So the first thing I did when I bought Gentileschi was to buy a very large wine fridge, which holds around ten cases of a miscellaneous wines, and then I can just select what I fancy before we set forth on a cruise. :triumphant:

By the way, this was a 90 day aged rib of beef cooked on the flybridge grill. It was sensational along with the 99 Vosne Romanee from Domaine Leroy…. Yummmeeee!!

Do the Italiens do any thing one could consider fine wine ?

So the new boat with great - bigger grill - FB cooking area , + wine storage , super long lease marina with more wine storage - its all making sence now .Especially as you can convert wine to diesel €€€ wise :)
Excellent overall package
