Marina boat lifts

Short answer - not very unless fitted with additional instrumentation.

More detail; It depends on such things as where you are in the weight range of the individual machine - so for example, our lift which was 64 ton would give a reasonable reading in say the 40 - 60 ton range but the gauges would be bouncing around all over the place if you were lifting say 6 ton.
A good operator (who for example lifts more than 1,000 boats a year as we did) would be able to give you a very good guesstimate if you were 'in the range' as above - but I still wouldn't put money on the result.

The one I work with a one year old 75 mt Marinetravelift has one sensor on the front sling set and one on the back sling set.
The manufacturer says +/- 5% on the electronic displays on the remote controls and take the reading when it has just left the water. Ie not when it is well above the quay.
You can increase the weight on the displays by lifting one block say front right or two say front right and back left.

How accurate do you want it to be? It depends on all sorts of things I suppose, amount of fuel and water can add quite a bit if tanks are full.

I recall when I asked them the weight of my last boat at SC, they said they would need to prep the hoist prior to lifting, before they could achieve reasonable accuracy, expect the weight of slings and lifting gear all need to be weighed and zero'd first. +/-5% seems to me to be reasonable if achievable.
