Skipped off at lunchtime.
Down to marina at Bangor Co Down
Sea was really calm, like a Med Dream.
Went to the Copeland Islands
Quite choppy on the way
But glorious sunshine.
I was going to sell the boat.
Perhaps Not.

Slow boat trips on summer evenings. Swiming off the bathing platform. White wine from the fridge and Van M or the Beach Boys on the sound system. Sunsets. Basking Sharks! Who knows.

Looks like it will stay settled, calm and bright through the weekend.

Beach Boys and Van Morrison loaded up on the ipod, I'm not planning on swimming in the Irish Sea just yet!

All sounds great bar the Beach Boys /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Weather looks like holding 'till the weekend /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Hi Mick, great post of your St Patrick's day trip.

It's been a tough last 12 months in construction, our leisure work fitting out and building pubs and restaurants etc disappeared almost overnight last May, we had to make lots of changes. We have got all stock homes sold or rented now which is a big relief.

Having said that we have started more work in the last 3 weeks than we have done in a year, I just hope that this isn't a blip and we have turned a corner, how are you finding things?

Hi Jim,

Things have slowed down a lot over here. I took a decision to reduce costs in 2007 and it appears to be paying off. We are leaner now than our competition and winning a fair share of what business is left.

Gov agency work would be about 25% of our business which is now gone for the time being but on the otherhand work on windfarms has increased.

I have been running my wee company now since 1981 and like to think I may have learned a thing or two about survival in all that time. It helps of course to be in a niche market.

I am glad to see you have got some work in - MrA (also in construction) dropped house builds last year and is concentrating on extensions / refurbs and he is as happy as $hite. Sorry he didn't do it before in fact /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Bit of thread drift (sorry Anaconda) but he did ask and I don't argue with someone as big as Jim /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Great Mick, glad to hear you and Mr A are getting through!

Looking forward to seeing you in the summer, you never know, if the weather stays like this I may get lifted in tomorrow and keep going West at 50knts, how much is unleaded at Malahide now?!

A night out in Gibneys?? /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

Slainte!

Sorry for hi-jack anaconda.
