I have a number of Maptech charts covering the Med and southern english channel, I have used them to date with either a laptop pc or an XDA 11 pda does anybody know of a chartplotter that they can be used on , I understand the format is BSB4 and maptech suggested a Raytec5 series, although I can find no trace of this make

I thinks you are mistaking "Raytec5 series" with Raymarine's Raytech RNS 5 chartplotting software. Maptech charts can also be used with MaxSea chartplotting software. I don't know of any dedicated chartplotter which uses Maptech BSB, after all the charts come on a CD-ROM, not a cartridge, don't they?

This would explain my confusion all maptech are offering me then is alternative software for my pc , Transfering the charts to an alternative memory form should not prove a problem as I use SD Memory cards for my XDA , But I still need to find a compatible plotter which can read this data
thanks

Re: Maptech Digital Charts compatability- ZERO

As far as I know there is no dedicated plotter that reads Maptech BSB or BSB4 .... they are only for PC plotting software .............

As another has said - the Raymarine is a PC Plotter p[rogram RNS 5 (=Raytech Nav System Vers. 5)

By the way - I saw a trial of it and considered it not worth the money .....

If you have a set of BSB4 charts and they are unlocked - why are you not using Maptech Lite to use them - should have come free with the charts ?

As the Maptech's are raster charts you're unlikely to find a plotter with the memory or processor speed to handle them. To my knowledge all the dedicated chart plotters use vector charts for this basic reason.

Many thanks for the responses the softwear I have is great the main problem I have is with daylight viewing on both my laptop and pda I was hoping a chart plotter would improve on this . any suggestions
