Maple Leaf East Coast Cruiser - Help Please

Can anyone give me any info on the MAPLE LEAF make of boat, I may take on a project to rebuild a very dilapidated one, it is a 23 foot, clinker hulled east coast cruiser. Any info, pictures anyone has would be greatly appreciated.

Are you referring to the "Maple Leaf" built by James A Silver Ltd between 1919 and 1928?

I own the big sister to a Mapleleaf - the Oakleaf. I have been given a PBO write up dated December 1968 by Derek Sansom on the Mapleleaf described as '...a 4.5TM cruising yacht from the East Coast'. It is a photocopy of a photocopy so does not come out very well (or perhaps it is my lack of skill) when sent electronically. If you PM me your address I shall send it to you.

Where did you find your Mapleleaf? If she is anything like my Oakleaf you have a very satisfying project on your hands.

A nice boat and a worthwhile project - they sail nicely well and are pretty. Unfortunately I cannot remember who built them; it was not the Dauntless Co, who built Dauntlesses, and it was not AF Platt, who built Finesses, it was...the other boatbuilder in that part of the world! Drat!

This is especially for Mirelle - Mapleleaf (and Oakleaf) were built at the Chandler & Smith yard at Great Wakering, Essex. If you or anyone else know anything about either design of boat I would be very pleased to know.

I just bought one - its in Mallorca. Know very little about them, will need to learn fast
